Currently I am creating earrings from cast off bike innertubes.  They are fun to make and look great on.  On some  I add crystal beads for some sparkle.  Just in time for the holidays.

Hello Grandma

Imagination

Imagination is more important than knowledge.

For knowledge is limited to all we know and understand,

while imagination embraces the entire world, and

all there ever will be to know and understand

The Fork in the Road

The best advice my father ever gave me:

keep the fork in the road ahead of you“.

Leave the way ahead open,  don’t feel trapped on one narrow road.

There are many options.

Living and Loving LIfe

This past year I chose to work VERY hard  in an effort to pay off some debt.  Was it worth it?  I don’t think so.  I spent all  my energy and attention chasing dollars rather then focusing on what I love and what I am good at.   Now at the end of the year I find my personal relationships have suffered, my energy is sapped, my studio is a disaster, and no progress has been made towards a fulfilling, creative career.  The below quote summarizes this.

The Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity answered

“Man. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”

I am uplifted by this breakthrough.

Love You Mandala

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Recently I celebrated my birthday, always an exciting event because I am happy to be alive.  Below is a card that can be printed and used for other people with birthdays.

Two Little Birds

Some photos from the first “build a gown” Baroque Fashion Show, organized by Shawna creator of Re Neux, presented during the annual Lighting of Ledoux.  My gown and antlers are inspired by the Troll Queen in the East of the Sun West of the Moon re-told fairy tale by Edith Pattou.

This Saturday is the annual Taos Lighting of Ledoux celebration.  All of the galleries and shops on Ledoux street open their doors and offer visitors cookies and refreshments.  There are warming fires burning and even some music making. It is a lighthearted atmosphere.

For the first time ever  Shawna, from Re Neux, is hosting a build a gown fashion show.  With 11 very talented participants it promises to be an event worth attending.  My excitement is growing as my gown nears completion.
